The Wild at Heart Experience

PERSONAL GROWTH AND HEALING ALONGSIDE HORSES

Equine assisted therapy differs from traditional counselling due to nature-based sessions. Here, the client is assisted in being physically present with the horse, allowing the horse to attune to the client, and mirroring their internal feelings. The benefits of our all-inclusive therapy sessions are aimed at providing coping mechanisms that enhance and encourage personal growth and resilience.

Equine Assisted Therapy Sessions Available from February 2024

COUNSELLING UTILISING SENSORIMOTOR ART THERAPY

Sensory art therapy builds on connecting back to the body, bypassing the chatter in the mind. With art therapy, we might use various techniques such as visualisations or guided drawings to tap into the client’s subconscious.

EQUINE ASSISTED COUNSELLING SESSIONS OUT IN THE PADDOCK

When we take a client into the paddock with the horses, we work with the Phenomenological approach, where rather than think, we will enable the experience to unfold organically. Through observation and looking at the behaviour and body language of the horse, we then determine the session. The client might be drawn to a specific horse that we will approach, or we will let the horses come to us.

Regardless, we do not need to catch or interact with the horses. They are just around us, bringing their healing and wisdom.

At times, we have pre-determined activities where we might halter a horse, groom it or lead it to perform a specific activity. It’s never ridden work, though.

And our majestic and nurturing horses have all been audited and proven safe to work with.

DAY RETREATS

Day retreats are a fun way to explore equine assisted therapy and approach a specific theme with a group of people. They run for a full day and cover a range of activities from art therapy to psycho-ed to horse sessions. These retreats are a great experience to book for business interactions and relationships, usually targeted at a specific gender, age group or planned outcome.

Wild At Heart Equine Assisted Therapy is happy to tailor-make a group retreat over a half or full-day inclusive experience. Chat with us about your goals, and we will happily work with you to create a memorable day with our beautiful horses.

RIDDEN SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY

The aim of our ridden sessions is planned around focussing on building capacity for children with disabilities, be they physical, mental or emotional.
